Engage in Real Medical Discussions That Matter

At the core of G-Med is a simple principle: physicians learn best from each other. G-Med enables meaningful, real-time medical discussions among verified doctors worldwide, providing a secure, physician-only environment where real patient cases are shared, clinical questions are explored, and decisions are shaped by collective experience. Doctors use G-Med to post and discuss challenging cases, seek second opinions from specialists and subspecialists, participate in global conversations on emerging conditions, and learn from peers facing similar clinical scenarios.

Unlike public forums or social media, discussions on G-Med remain focused, credible, and clinically relevant. Physicians collaborate across borders and specialties to compare treatment approaches, understand region-specific protocols, and gain cross-disciplinary feedback on complex or rare conditions. Discussions are case-driven, practical, and grounded in real-world medicine – not theory.

Thanks to G-Med’s specialty-based structure, your questions and insights reach the right physicians: colleagues who understand your clinical context and speak your medical language. Every post contributes to a growing body of shared medical knowledge, helping doctors worldwide improve confidence, decision-making, and patient care through collaboration.

36-year-old man returning from West Africa with recurrent fevers

I have a 36-year-old man who recently returned from rural West Africa presenting with recurrent febrile episodes occurring roughly every three days, associated with chills, malaise, and fatigue. On exam he has mild splenomegaly. Labs show normocytic anemia and thrombocytopenia. A peripheral blood smear was obtained and shows characteristic intraerythrocytic parasites. Would appreciate confirmation on the most infecting species

The fever periodicity every 72 hours together with the smear morphology is most consistent with Plasmodium malariae. This species classically causes quartan malaria and is associated with lower parasitemia but chronic infection, which fits the anemia and splenomegaly.
